The NEC XN120 Communication system

The NEC XN120 Communication system is an easy to use,  modular telephone system designed specifically for the needs of the small to medium size business or branch organization.  The XN120 allows connection of traditional corded or cordless telephones as well as the highly featured XN120 system phones.  The basic system (£299.00) is initially equipped for three analogue exchange lines and eight extensions.  With the simple addition of cards, it can provide capacity for 9 analogue lines (or up to 18 ISDN channels) and 24 extensions.  When your business grows even larger...you can add expansion cabinets to grow to a maximum of 72 extensions and 27 lines.

NEC XN120 Efficient, flexible and manageable

The NEC XN120 has features seldom found on small business systems.  For example, it is one of the very few systems that can provide caller line identity (CLI) to traditional corded, cordless or system-phones.  This means that you can even connect traditional DECT cordless phones and still get the incoming callers name, or telephone number displayed before you answer the call.  CLI is a standard feature so no extra cards or equipment is required.

The system can distribute calls evenly to assigned staff or in a priority order.  If one group member is busy, the call forwards to the next group member.  If all extensions are busy  you can queue incoming callers and if you have the integrated voicemail card you can play holding messages.

NEC XN120 Scalability - Build on your investment

Start small and expand your system when you want.  Unlike most competitive systems,  the XN120 does not force you to throw away your existing main cabinets when your business expands.  Just add XN120 expansion cabinets and expand all the way up to 72 extensions and 27 lines.

Worried that you may outgrow XN120 - NEC have ensured that as you grow nothing is wasted. XN120 solutions are scalable. Start small and expand your phone system when you want to. Unlike most competitive systems XN120 does not force you to throw away your existing main cabinets when you grow to 20-30 extensions.

Just add another XN120 Cabinet and keep growing. Start as small as three exchange lines and eight extensions. With additional interface cards and cabinets you can grow to 27 exchange lines and 72 extensions. If you wish to add IP extensions then XN120 can support up to 96 extensions.

NEC XN120 phone system - FAQ's.

Q: How do I change the time on my telephone system?

 

A: Press call on your telephone handset and dial 828 then the time e.g. 13:30 Then press hold and then press spk.


Q: How do I enter speed dial into my telephone system?

 

A: Press call on your telephone handset and dial 853. Enter a bin number between 000-899 (or the next available speed dial number) then enter the telephone Number. Press hold then enter a name (maximum of 12 characters) using your telephone key pad. Press hold then press speaker.

 

Spelling a name: e.g. press “2” key once for “A” twice for “B”. Pressing the # Key accepts a character and moves the cursor one place to the right. Press # twice to insert a “space”. Press DND/CONF key to clear the character entry to the left - One character at a time (Backspace Key).


Q: I have entered speed dial numbers into systems but don’t know how to use them?

 

A: Press call on your telephone and press DC key followed by bin number (speed dial number).


Q: How do I pickup another ringing telephone in my office?

 

A: To pickup another ringing telephone in your group dial 867 or dial 715 and the ringing extension number.


Q: How do I forward my telephone handset to my mobile or any other number?

 

A: Press speaker on your telephone handset dial 713 then 6 then the telephone number you want to divert to then hold then speaker. To cancel Press speaker and then dial 720 then press speaker. Please note this feature will only work if enabled on install.


Q: How do I call forward my telephone handset to another extension?

 

A: Press call on your telephone and dial 888. Then enter a call forward condition - 2 Busy/No answer, 3 Follow me, 4 Immediate, 6 No answer, 7 Dual ring or 0 to cancel. Enter an extension number then enter a call forward type - 2 Forward all calls, 3 Forward outside call only, 4 Forward intercom calls only (the DND/CONF key flashes and the internal dial tone pattern changes).

You can also cancel call forwards by Pressing speaker dial 720 then speaker.


Q: How do I set up “do not disturb” my telephone?

 

A: Pick up your handset, press DND/CONF and then enter a DND condition - 1 DND: Trunk incoming call, 2 DND: Intercom incoming call, 3 DND: Trunk and intercom incoming call, 4 DND: Transferred call forward call, 0 DND: Cancel. When DND is set, the DND/CONF key lamp lights up and the internal dial tone pattern changes.


Q: How do I adjust the ringing volume of my telephone?

 

A: You can increase or decrease the ringing volume by pressing the volume keys on your telephone while the telephone handset is ringing. There are 3 settings; low, medium and high. You can also press spk and dial 829 this will make your telephone ring so you can adjust the volume.


Q: How do I change name on my extension?

 

A: Press speaker dial 800 enter extension number of the telephone you want to change then enter name using your telephone key pad. DND/CONF key to go back a space and the # key to move forward twice for a space. Then press hold then speaker.


Q: how do I clear a function key on my telephone?

 

A: Press speaker dial service code 851. Press the function key that you want to clear then dial 000 press another function key if you have more to clear or press speaker to end.


Q: how do I set a function key?

 

A: Press speaker dial service code 851 then press the function key that you want to set. Dial the two digit code for the new function. See below for each function type.

Dial 01 for a DSS key enter the telephone number of your co worker or enter outside number, include 9 to seize a line press speaker to end or press another key if you have more to set.

Dial 08 for a caller ID list key then press speaker to end or another function key if you have more to set.

Dial 07 for conference key then press speaker to end or another function key if you have more to set.


Q: how do I set up a conference call?

 

A: make first call then press conference function key then dial extension of next member or dial 9 and outside number repeat until all members are called then press conference function key twice to join all calls in conference. If you do not have conference function key please refer to how do I setup function keys.


Q: how do I use my single line telephone normal analogue telephone?

 

A: Placing an outside call lift receiver dial 9 then the telephone number.

Placing an intercom call lift receiver then dial extension number.

Quick dial Using speed dial list lift receiver dial 813 then bin number that number is stored.

Placing call using last number redial lift receiver and dial 816.

To pick up ringing telephone in your group lift receiver dial 867.

To place a call on hold press recall don’t hang up to retrieve press recall.

To retrieve a held outside call lift receiver and dial 772 and the line number.

To transfer a call to another extension press recall then dial extension number you can then announce call then hang up.

To DND your telephone lift receiver dial 847 1 to DND incoming call,

847 2 to DND intercom incoming call,

847 3 to DND trunk and intercom call,

847 4 to DND transferred or call forwarded call,

847 0 to cancel.

To call forward your telephone lift receiver dial 888 then 2 for busy/no answer, or 3 for follow me or, 4 immediate or, 6 no answer or, 7 dual ring then enter extension number, then enter call forward type 2 to forward all calls or, 3 to forward outside calls only or, 4 to forward intercom calls only then hang up. When you set call forward, the Internal dial tone pattern changes.

To establish a conference call lift receiver make first call then press recall dial 826 enter extension number or dial 9 and outside number then press recall to add another party and repeat, or recall twice to join all call in conference.


Q:how do I divert my telephone to voice mail?

 

A: Press divert to voice mail key, this is a toggle key.
